Noisy neighborhood

Out on the edge of the village where i live, night sounds are often overwhelmingly loud.

Tonight the crickets and frogs are so happy the rain stopped that they have really kicked it up a notch. And the eerie bats have resumed squeaking their way around the trees as they swoop by.

Every once in a while one of our neighbors hires a DJ to blast monotonous tunes late into the night. The DJ is much louder and more annoying than when it is a traditional drum circle. Unfortunately, tonight there is a DJ working in town!

For some reason, around 1AM every night, the neighborhood dogs begin to bark and howl, yap and growl in a canine cacophony that echoes off the buildings, masking who started it all.

Then around 5AM there is the repetitive call to prayer from the new mosque on our side of town. Their sound system is much louder than the mosque's in the center of town and it often sounds like a man is right outside my window. (By the way, they painted the new mosque a peachy yellow.)

And finally around 6:20AM the pigeons and cuckoo birds start their arpeggio of annoying coos. Apparently, their job is to discourage sleeping in around here!
