Ear abscess

This little guy was brought to me for a large, disfiguring abscess behind/on his ear. I don't have an interpreter on Thursdays so his mother and i "charaded" our way through the pertinents and then I prayed for him. I was on my own as she put her shawl over her head to avoid seeing any part of the procedure. At least I was able to convince her to talk to him and pat his tummy to console him, otherwise she'd have left him alone on the table! I had to drain the abscess, pack it, dress it and then syringe-feed him some ibuprofen for the fever and the pain. He will see one of our staff on Saturday for a dressing change and return to see me on Monday. I'll try to get some pics then.
