Adrenaline rush
I couldn't decide whether to write about the mad dashes to get clothes off the line while storms are blowing in or the constant tap dance to squish earwigs and termites and ants, oh my! But then my week got even wilder!
I'm in awe of how God provides, even in the little things. One day Teresa dropped off a box of roach traps one afternoon "just in case" and that night i saw the first cockroach in the house! And on Friday morning Teresa pulled out a clothes drying rack from storage for me while it was hot and sunny. Then at 4pm a huge tropical storm blew in and i made my mad dash to gather the still damp laundry. But there was the clothes rack, ready and waiting!

Our busy day at the clinic is Thursday when the prenatal clinic is in operation as well as the government sponsored immunization clinic. This Thursday a woman came to the clinic in labor. The nurse midwife continued to see patients in one curtained area while she lay in another. She kept having a lot of nausea and would get up and go out behind the clinic to vomit in the bushes. Teresa had been keeping an eye on her but had a lot of other errands and various other people vying for her time and attention. I was asked by a staff member to refill the supplies and met Teresa also walking up to the store room.
At the moment the laboring woman's family came clamoring for us to help. Teresa went around the corner to the side of the building and there the woman had heaved her baby out onto the sand! It was a mad dash of another kind to get the midwife, cord clamps and suction for the baby. I was assigned to baby duty and was ensuring he had a cleared nose and mouth and a nice, healthy cry when the midwife says from the ground where he crouched to attend to the mother, "There's another baby. It's twins!" So we wrapped Baby A in a long cloth brought out by his aunt and moved the spectacle inside. And shortly thereafter he ruptured membranes and she had another boy but on the delivery table this time! We checked her visit record and she had been coming to the clinic regularly but they had never discovered she was carrying twins!! Praise God that she decided to come in for this, her third delivery! Praise God that Teresa was right around the corner to find her with baby on the ground! Praise God that mother and both baby boys are healthy!
