They've been digging holes all over the villages along the road on this side of the river because they're getting electricity!! This is a big deal because very few houses have any form of power outside of the town with ferry landing. People use candles or battery powered camping lights and flashlights in their homes. At the mission compound we use solar power. The solar system runs lights and items with 12 volt (DC car chargers) plugs from energy stored in the batteries (top picture). And you can turn on the inverter to plug in 110V items.
