Today is the end of the month long Ramadan fast and it is a day set aside for prayer. Then at dusk the feasting begins! It shouldn't get too noisy in our neighborhood by the guesthouse as there are big walls between houses. And there are Catholics and ex-patriates living around here, too. This year the celebrating may carry over until Wednesday the 22nd which is the 21st anniversary of the 1994 revolution.

The end of Ramadan is a holiday when one is supposed to get a new outfit. We enjoyed seeing the colorful dresses thick with embroidery and sparkly non-sensible heels and cowboy boots!

There is also a "trick or treat" type tradition where the kids will ask for "Salibo" and expect a candy or loose change. These three girls carried evening clutches to hold their "treats" and are ever so cute in their holiday digs!!
